Health care is an increasingly worrisome cost burden for Oregon businesses. A recent Statesman Journal article says, "State health-care premiums' growth outpaces nation's..."

Wellness is being offered left and right as a way to control costs, reduce absenteeism, increase retention and basically cure all that ails health care as we know it, but how likely is a savvy HR organization to realize any return on investment from a wellness program?

This seminar will look at the latest research, trends, and help you strategize about whether or not wellness can work for your people.

Other cool events...

Portland non-profit BecomeX is a career and life-skills personal development program for young women ages 16-29.

On Monday March 12, 2007, BecomeX will hold their 3rd annual fundraiser entitled, "Shimmer and Shine: Live from the Inside Out" at the Gerding Theater at the newly renovated Armory building located at 128 NW Eleventh Avenue.

The event will open with a cocktail reception from 6pm-7pm, followed by a formal program showcasing BecomeX graduates from 7:30pm-9pm. Tickets may be purchased at www.becomex.org/shine for $35. Proceeds from the event will go toward funding for the program.

Recess is proud to invest in the vision of BecomeX by teaching health and wellness classes. Their March 12, 2007 event is bound to be a blast. This organization does wonderful things to help build the self sufficiency and self esteem of young girls and women. Even if you have nothing to contribute in terms of donations, just being there is a huge boost and a way to say you support these young people in their development.
